I got to the store this morning and saw that there was a flier for the Pancake Jamboree. It's a tradition here in town and quite eventful at that. They even import maple syrup from some place further south, I say at least that its the best syrup in all New England, maybe even the country! Anyway, Martha's Corner Store has been around probably since the founding of the town. Nonetheless, the store is famous in the area for their ham salad, bagels and home made salt water taffy. I made up a helping of a bagel with apricot jam and turned to the counter to pay. That's when Susan, Martha's grand-daughter, asked me if Nick had changed the locks. I looked at her and just shook my head, paid and walked out. When I passed Nick's house, the entire wall of the living room had been lying in the yard while Nick was standing with chainsaw in hand waving to me. He screamed that he was putting in a theater room. I screamed back, "I hope that's not a load bearing wall." What is with the esotericism?

it's beautiful and i have had it for only a few months now and i noticed just recently on the top a couple of small hairline type cracks. i am not positive, but i don't **think** they were there before. also, it looks as if one of the slats that make up the top of the table swelled or something and is raised slightly higher now, revealing a milimeter or 2 of the side. because of this, the top of the table isn't totally flat anymore. i am wondering, is this "normal?" what other reasons, besides say bad craftsmanship would cause this? weather, i dunno...anything? it's not like we dance on it so i am wondering now if i was ripped off or something...

I was wondering, other than shape, what the difference between an incense stick and an incense cone is. And when you light them, are you supposed to blow them out and just let the smoke go, are you supposed to let them burn with a flame like a candle?

Is is true when you spray an orchid, the leaves should not be wet. If so, why.
Can I safely pinch back the old flowers for new growth or should they fall off on their own.
I'm actually having success with this orchid and would appreciate any/all advice from experienced growers, not just reference on the net nor in my book.
Thanks.

This is just a seedling, and has 3 groups of three leaves with sawtooth edges. the stem is a purple/red color, and it looks like it has runner roots. I have a picture, and I am trying to find out if this is a weed or not. I was told by someone that this could be a type of moss rose. If someone could tell me what type of plant this is, that would be great. Thank you.

Hi. I live in NH and I want to plant some (not too big) bushes that the birds will like and will help feed them during the winter months. Any ideas?

I want to do this to stop te condensation dripping into the wood at the bottom of the window - and also it looks a bit ugly to see these black/mildew edges to the inside of the window (bearing in mind the whole window is finished in white gloss)

It has a stone floor and is really old and dark. Does anyone know any good ideas for renovation? I'd love to finish it, but don't know if it is worth it, since it is so old and has only about 7 or 8 feet of clearance. I was thinking about installing a sauna in one side, but would like some other ideas.

Thanks!

My house is NEARLY a candidate for one of those Clease House or Clean Sweep programs. I have off this week, and I am determined to declutter and clean it top to bottom. It's a big house & I'm working alone.

After it's clean, I'm hiring another cleaning service to maintain it. Does anyone have a good strategy for me?

A friends birthday last night, got smashed with cake in the face and of course cake fell on the carpet. How do you get cake out of carpet. This is at a restaurant so the carpet is flat and smooth, not like house carpet.

Apparently the toilet clogged yesterday, now most of my bedroom is a tub. My husband thinks that "airing out" the bedroom/carpet will get it to dry. I on the other hand think it will mold because when you step on the carpet it makes a slushy noise and water comes up between your toes in some parts. Other parts of the carpet are damp but you can tell water has gotten into it. Do we have to replace the carpet?

I'm remodeling my bathroom, but absolutely cannot affort to replace the tub; I'm just replacing the sink, vanity, toilet, and linoleum, and giving the room a fresh coat of paint. I would like my fixtures to match, though, and the color of my tub is horrible. Is there anyway I can paint my fiberglass tub to match my new sink and toilet? I need the paint to last, and, if possible, find a fiberglass patching kit because there's some small holes in my shower wall from an old towel rack.

The pump is working and water is flowing thru it. The two jets are moving water around. There are no pool leaks. The vacuum line has no suction so the baracuda g3 won't clean the pool.

My neighbour has two 18 foot fir trees in his garden. Our gardens are only about 20 foot square and these trees are blocking out nearly all our sun. We are in UK.
