Live in Kansas (this is our first year planting here) and this week after being in the 70's and 80's we are expecting 4 days of cold weather 28 on one night, possibly even some snow, we just finished planting bare root roses, azaleas, lilac bush, and a Japanese bloodgood maple tree and the tulips are in full bloom. Should I cover the plants to protect them, or will they be alright? Hopefully someone can answer soon, as the weather is supposed to set in tonight and last until Sat. Tues 64/31, Wed 51/30, Thurs 47/31, Fri 49/32, Sat 43/28. Thank you

I need to complete a science project on fertiliser concentrations effect on plant growth in 2-3weeks. I need seeds with the least food storage that grow the fastest to give results. I'll be looking at height and dry mass differences.

My kitchen has two ceiling lights, one at either end, operated from single switch. I want to install a third fitting in the centre of the existing two, operated by same single switch (all three sittings work as one). How do I connect the wiring?
I know that bulbs / light fittings are situated across the switch live and loop-in circuit neutral connector blocks in the circuit, but are additional bulbs / fittings on same single switch added in series or parallel between these blocks?
Of the two existing lights, one appears to be a 'master', with full circuit connections evident behind its plate including switch live block, whilst the other 'secondary' firring has just a single T+E cable (which I realise could indicate last fitting on loop-in). As I just want to add a fitting to same switch, can I just add a T+E cable from the switch-live and neutral blocks of the ‘master’ to the live and neutral blocks of the proposed third fitting plate (parallel installation)?

My toilet is seriously in bad trouble. I clogged it with a fairly large bar of soap and now it appears to be lodged within it. It's been there for about 4 days. How can I fix it?

I pushed my bathroom door open because I was locked out of it. I can see the inside of my bathroom door, meaning that the hinge and the tiny inside portion where the door is attached to the hinges is not on the remainder of the door. The hinges are still attached to the bathroom door frame, what can I do to fix it?

Ours open in the front and we took out the nests at least 6 times this Spring and then finally gave up. The sparrows have taken over 3 of the houses and they will have at least 3 broods between now and fall.

I have flower boxes made of landscape timbers around the trees? Is this good or negative for the tree and why? The dirt in them is about 8-10" deep.

I started with 4 small hostas about 3 years ago and now it looks like there are about 25-30 of the 2 types, about 50-60 now. Is it time to transplant some now? Should I wait until fall?
What happens if they keep propogating as is? I use natural compost and mulch well over winter.

I receive dead shipments of crickets, 1000's at a time, especially in the summer months and am wondering if they are good for inside house plants or my outside garden as fertilizer?

I'm finding this to be very effective against both this Spring. My neighbors are complaining about mole highways but I have none, yet I've lots of nightcrawlers and wonderful soil. The ferret manure is mixed with shredded paper and composts rather easily. I stuff it in any hole in the ground.

my husband and i recently purchased a new home (first house), but now he's gone for military reasons. i'm looking for a good guide/checklist of what maintenance to do when and maybe some how-to's. most of the things i've found are for older homes and don't explain things very well.
thanks in advance!

So I smoke and my parents don't know. My dad stays up all night so I can't just walk outside, because he will come out too and want to know what I'm doing. Also, he is downstairs and I am upstairs, and if I just light up he will be able to smell the smoke and it will linger in my room.

Is there anything that I can do to neutralize the smell so I can smoke in my room but my dad won't know?

Oh, and also I can't open my windows because of the alarm system. PLEASE HELP>

How do you disarm one sensor in a Westec 5000 system? One window is giving a fast flashing alarm signal. The sensor is OK. I think that there is something wrong with the wire in the attic between the sensor and the main box.

I have noticed for a few days very tiny white mites or so they look like only on the bathtub. I can only see them when they move or put a piece of color paper behind it. They look like a speck of dust but I can see them moving if you stare and watch them. I've tried cleaning with bleach but they are still there. No one is itching no rashes so I do not think it is scabies, lice, crabs, . They never jump they just crawl around and look like white dots. I do not see any wings or heads. I'm going nuts trying to figure this out.
Any ideas on how to get rid of them? I only see them on the bathtub.
Only seriouse reply's please.

My lawn is constantly growing weeds and patches stay yellow during the summer. I went to Lowe's and they said Scott's turf builder every few weeks and watering 3-4 times a week will make me have a full green lawn in about 2 months. But I have also heard that i should use golf course fertilizer because a lot of courses use zoysia on their greens and tee boxes. If i should use golf couse fertilizer, what kind and where can i get it. Thanks

Bleach, pinesol, tilex, etc, all leave the house smelling clean, but it's a boring chemical type of smell. What do you all use to have your favorite scent left throughout the house instead? If we can choose scents for laundry detergent, candles, air freshners, etc, there must be kitchen and bath cleaners which do the same.

I'm not planning on doing it. It's just something I've always been curious about. I just want to know if anyone has done it and can tell me what happened.
