Yep, they sure can.

Anything other than patio furniture.

generally they say it is either an:

eye sore
fire hazard
safety hazard

Been there and done that.

But I did always notice, they seem to find time to get on people who live in buildings closer to the office than they do the other buildings.

Just went through this with new owners/management and yes they can. We cannot store anything on our patios. Lawn furniture, grills, flowers are about all we can have on ours. I will say one thing, some people have had to clean their area up so it looks a lot nicer.

Yes, I do think they can. They have the right to set new rules and regulations. Of course if you have something written from the prior owner, you may get by with it. This is to keep these areas neat and clean for the benefit of all tenants.

The best thing that you can do is get informed. Take a trip to your local Legal Aid or Community Legal Services they should have a copy of the local Landlord/Tenant handbook which will have your local laws and rights.
