You've opened the vac line and partially closed the skimmer/ main drain lines and put your hand near where the cleaner hooks in and feel absolutely no suction?
It's either going to give you suction or the pump will lose it's prime. No ifs or buts. If the pump loses it's prime, it's either an air lock in that line or you've got a suction leak in it. You don't necessarily lose water from a pool if there's a leak in suction, you DO in a return, so water loss monitoring really doesn't help a great deal in suction issues until you remove the source of the suction (i.e. turning off that line at the pump)

The first thing I would recommend checking is the postion of any valves on the intake lines of your filter system. You say that you are getting water pressure at your returns, but no suction at the skimmer... the water has to be coming from somewhere. One of two things is probably happening: either the water is being drawn off another skimmer or the main drain at the bottom of the pool. In the plumbing on the inlet side of the pump, there may be a three-way or several ball valves that control the flow to each of these lines. Make sure they're set to draw off the skimmer you want to use for the cleaner only... If you're still having problems, feel free to contact me through the group (see below...)

First check the hose, is it open, then check the Pool Control valve, should be set for Clean or Waste. In other words by-pass Filter- Check the point where the hose connects see if it has suction. And try cleaning the Filter then try the hose.
If water is coming out of the Jets, then its getting water someplace, My pool had an adapter for the Skimmer, and I connected the hose there, see if its a tight fit.

I turned pool pump on, jets are working properly, but there isn t suction coming out of vac line & vacuum has no suction. Filters & shimmers are clean. I have sprayed water hose into both swimmers to remove any debris & I have a leaf basket attached to vacuum so vac line doesn t get clogged. I noticed the concrete around pump area is wet, also the swimmer door won t bob up &a down, it stays laying down & pool has enough water in it. What could be the problem?

is your filter clean, if it is, check the pool cleaner and see if it is clogged... if its ok, then back wash the vaccuum line from the equipment to the pool with a garden hose... try these two first before calling a pool tech...
