36" would be the lowest height over the surface of a dining room table. Depending on the style of fixture, however, it may be hung higher. The point is that you don't want it to obstruct the view across the room even when standing.

Its really your preference, But always check with manufacturer Instructions. Since going lower pulls more weight downwards. Chain also needs to be strong enough. Pendants on the other hand use. Aircraft grade cables. Which is more durable then chains. Chains do open up to adjust size. But then again also cant support that heaviest, and has its own restrictions.
you can also call, The manufacturer and figure this out, since you do not want to void warranty.

My Husband is a contractor has owned his business for over 20 years so this info is reliable... LOl
Standard height is 36 inches above the table.

This one is down to personal choice, i,d say high enough so that you can see the person opposite you when seated if going above the table
