This is just a seedling, and has 3 groups of three leaves with sawtooth edges. the stem is a purple/red color, and it looks like it has runner roots. I have a picture, and I am trying to find out if this is a weed or not. I was told by someone that this could be a type of moss rose. If someone could tell me what type of plant this is, that would be great. Thank you.

Fellow gardeners, Rob was kind enough to email me the picture, so I posted it at http://puffincentral.com/robrose.jpg

Could it be a rugosa? Some people do consider them weeds, but I love them because they remind me of the ocean. http://www.hlasek.com/foto/rosa_rugosa_4944.jpg

I've always heard the saying: groups of three, leave it be. Poison ivy, oak & sumac have groups of three leaves. Better safe than sorry.
