It has a stone floor and is really old and dark. Does anyone know any good ideas for renovation? I'd love to finish it, but don't know if it is worth it, since it is so old and has only about 7 or 8 feet of clearance. I was thinking about installing a sauna in one side, but would like some other ideas.

Thanks!

I would make it into a pub. First you need to start running a couple dehumidifiers. That will take are of the mustiness and dampness. Then make the stone floor an asset. Get a few pub tables and chairs, install a bar at the far end of the room and hang some old beer signs or gas station signs down there. Keep the lighting low. Paint the walls a taupe color so it will stay with your theme. Also, I would spray the ceiling flat black (or you could paint it black). It would give it kind of an authentic English pub look. Candles go a long way to create great mood lighting and would also help erase the mustiness. I think it sounds like a great project! (P.S. I would forget the sauna idea because you will only create more moisture and moisture is not good for foundations of homes.)

You could install a drop ceiling to hide the hanging pipes and incorporate lighting, if you are a DIY.
The stone floor may be a problem/expense to change unless you install a wood floor over screeds.

One time, I built a drop ceiling in a garage which still allowed the overhead door to slide into it, and maintained a usable garage for any new owner.. I just used cheap paneling to cover the frame. Draped across the garage door. Made an extra BR or party room.
