I live in Georgia, USA. There was an auto accident. A car came flying through the yard, and then the tow truck came and got it. So the ruts are between 1 inch and 4 inches deep. Can I pour sand or top soil in, and gradually build it up over several weeks?

Hello, I've heard from quite a few people that when you're low on oil, you should run kerosene through your heater to clean out the heads.

I'm wondering how to actually get the kerosene into the heater, and help would be appreciated.

Home depot only has thin window pane glass. I'm looking for something more substantial to use as a fish tank lid. Size 2' x 3'. San Jose & Central valley preferred.

Someone told me they bought something at Ikea. I went online (since I dont live by one) and found a few items, but noticed that more than half of them are not available for online purchases...why? whats the point of having an online store, if you are only showing what you can buy in SOME cities?

Moved into a house in January, the snow melts and I have 2 plants, 8 feet apart, maybe 14 inches tall.

Evergreen, solid green leaves, foliage looks like a holly, woody stems, but Buffalo is a liminal zone 6- closer to a 5. We're 1/3 mile off of the Niagara, so we're a slightly warmer microclime.

Is it a holly, do you think? (Guessing, no pictures, sorry.)

I'm from a zone 4, but I did school in Philly, and this looks like a holly.

I noticed the decorative plate behind the fill nozzle was loose, so I completely unscrewed the nozzle from the pipe in order to recaulk. Inside the nozzle it was wet and full of hard crud. Where did this wetness come from?

My husband and I have recently aquired an Antebellum Plantation Home (pre-civil war era) in Louisiana and we are wanting to begin restoring it. I know that there has to be grants out there that are awarded to help fund this type of project. Does anyone know the terms of the grants? where to find them? what they can be used for?
Most specifically, it needs a new roof desperately, or the house will begin having damage that could be irreversible! Which would devastate us and his family! However, it is a ridiculous amount to pay to have it done. We just bought another home, and aren't able to pay for the roof outright! I know that I have heard of people recieving grants to do this type of thing, I'm just lost as to where to start!
HELP PLEASE! I can provide more info if needed! Let me know! I also have pics of it, if anyone knows of cost for this type of project!

I'm remodeling a kitchen and would like to save money by doing as much as possible without hiring contractors. How hard will it be to install my own countertops? Is this a feasible thing for someone who has never done it before?

I have a closet with a pull switch light. It is the only one in the whole house and it is driving me mad! The string hangs in my way or gets caught on the hangers or comes off in my hand! I'm kind of handy. I have put in vinal flooring, toilets and a ceiling fan.

How do I install a switch on the outside of the door. I can find information about installing a REPLACEMENT switch for an electrical box that is already there. But I want to know how to install wires from the circut to the new box.

If anyone has step by step directions or a good web link I'd be really happy.

Thanks.

I am familiar with them, I have seen them before at my previous houses. But this is the first spring season for me in the house I am living in and they are absolutely everywhere. They stay right out side the house and they are all over the yard. I want to know if anyone knows any possible ways to rid them from the vicinity of our home. Thanks for the answers.

Have written a letter asking permission, they did not reply. They have been like this for over 3 years. I have a leak into my lounge from the window and cannot repair it without going on their road. I will not cause an obstruction to them and it will not effect them at all as they can't see me from their house. To force them to give me permission it seems that I have to take them to court - I know that the court would give me permission but, as they know, it will cost me money I cannot get back - it does not seem fair. Does anybody have a solution for me that does not cost me a lot of money?

I've done some looking into it and am receiving conflicting advice.

Some say to start at an edge to avoid half peices.

Others say to start in the middle of the longest expanse. (which in my case would be the middle of the hallway that runs the length of the house ) for a uniform look?

I intend to do all of my main floor rooms which includes front living room, hallway with two bedrooms off it, kitchen and bathroom off kitchen?

I did something really stupid this afternoon. I put my lawn mower in my enclosed garage while still running and forgot about it until it ran out of gas. It probably ran for an hour or more. If I open the garage door and turn on a fan, how long until it is safe to go inside. Will the carbon monoxide be stuck to the walls in a film or something? It also smells, how do I get rid of the odor?

I've already picked out my bedspread. It's also white, but it has three light, pastel-ish flowers on it in khaki, blue and pink with a few sage colored leaves. I also have a real rustic looking mirror that looks like a lot like a window pane--it has leather straps (one that runs horizontal and one that runs vertical) and then a big metal o's holding the leather straps in the center. I want to add something to my other walls, but I'm so burnt out on hanging picture frames and scones. I can't paint either since the walls are stuco and I'm renting. It'd be too hard to cover up when I move into my condo.
I once put scones on my wall and filled them with water and put chinese fighting fish in them, so I'm up for anything.. I just need some help--my creativity if lacking. Thanks!
Also, my room is not square, and it's pretty small, so my bed has to go in the corner-yuck!
