Wood is a natural product, and has been the best available material for thousands of years. More recently, doors have been made available in steel, fiberglas, rigid foam, and other materials, but wood is still king because of its' light weight, workability, paintability, insulation value, and warm appearance and texture. It is still a hard material to beat for all these reasons.
