Bath tub fill nozzle full of hard crud?

I noticed the decorative plate behind the fill nozzle was loose, so I completely unscrewed the nozzle from the pipe in order to recaulk. Inside the nozzle it was wet and full of hard crud. Where did this wetness come from?

You probably have a lime build-up. Try CLR or LimeAway. Let it sit a while and then use a rough material to wipe it away.

its probably a calcium build up.the wetness was there from the water going through it before!just soak it in clr,you can find it at walmart on the cleaning supply isle.
