it seems like they are wallpaperes but it seems like a "mobile home wallpaper" ive delt with walpaper before and this seems diffrent... ??? can that kind of wall be painted over?

My mobile home has wall board that has a design on it, so it sort of seems like wall paper but it really isn't. I've primered it with Kilz to cover the design well and then 2 coats of a good paint. It's been fine over the past 12 years, no trouble.

Hi...yes you can! just make sure you clean your walls well and use a good paint....though I have to tell you if you decide you want to put up wall paper over this (Luann board) you need to paint it first or use a border adhesive to attach the wall paper otherwise it will fall down once it dries...found out the hard way on that one!...lol I have painted every room in our home and have not had a problem and I didn't use a primer either, though it did take a couple coats of paint to cover up the 90's look.. hope this helps!

You may be working with a "wall board" that has a pattern on it which is typical for mobile homes. The product is not like sheet rock but more like paneling with a pattern similar to wallpaper on it.
You may want to go to Home Depot or Lowes and talk to them, I am sure you could primer it and then paint it without a problem.
If it is actually paper on the wall you may want to strip it to keep from having problems with it getting too wet from the paint and the pulling of like wallpaper will do if saturated.

I'm painting my newer mobile right now. It has "paper" covered wallboard. Very ugly designs. I didn't use primer. I just used 2 coats of paint & it covered & looks great. It's very hard to see indents on these walls before you paint. Run your hands over them to make sure there aren't defects. If there are, just use spackle to fix them first.

I would lightly sand your walls first. Then, clean your wall board with some diluted detergent and water first. If you wallboard is warped or the wallboard has some defective or aged areas, paint will not cover it up. You will need to prime your walls next. I have always had good luck with Behr paint. A little more expensive than the rest, but the best durable paint out there. Good luck in your new project!

You may have paper covered paneling. As long as the paper is well attached to the backing material, you should be able to paint it without problem. You might want to put on a good primer/adhesion promoter on first before painting with latex.

I had that same problem with a trailer that I lived in. I applied Kilz first over the wall board and them painted over it. I think that you will find out that it will work great.

You should have no problem painting over mobile home paneling. If the panels are a dark color you might want to consider priming them first.

painting over wall paper is a disaster. you really ought to pull the wall paper off. sanding it does no good. and even then peeling it off will still leave a residual gum that needs to totally be taken off before you paint. that you can sand off after it dries from your wall paper removal.

it can be, but, if it's the original that came in the mobile home, its actually wall paper covered paneling. you can paint over it. we did ours.
