i am getting a german shepherd pupppy in about 11 days and we have a 20-20 fenced in lot. i would really like for grass to be up there instead of all the nasty leaves and mud. because it would jsut be better for the dog. and my mother says it wont work if i clear out the leaves and try to but fertilizer and grass growing stuff... becuase there is no sunlight up there to help it grow (the lot is in between a lot of trees)! is she right or is there some way i could get grass to grow????

I'm not sure what kind of carpeting to put in a grade school child's bedroom. What is going to make it show less wear? Will it help if it's textured? What will make it shows stains less? Will a darker color, texture, a varied color pattern, or some kind of stain-proofing treatment help?

I've never grown herbs before but we've got this nifty garden window in the kitchen and I want to grow basil, cillantro, oregano, maybe some thyme. First off, are these herbs compatible to grow in close proximity? Secondly, how difficult is it to grow my own garlic? And lastly, can I grow garlic near these herbs in the same garden window?

I was trying to get a candle out of a jar so I soaked it in a cooking pot. The wax leaked and got all over my new pot, and I can't get it out!

I recently picked up a little wooden desk at a thrift store. On the inside of the drawer there is a stamp "branded" into the wood that says EULER Cedarburg, Wis. - I can find nothing on the name as a furniture manufacturer, yet there are no other indicators of where it came from. Anyone have a clue as to who made this thing? When? I'm quite interested now!

They put a dog pin up and the dogs smell terrible. Not to mention last year they let one die out there. We dont have much money so moving or building a privacy fence is out. Please help.

I am starting my 2nd attempt at an outdoor garden, but thought it would be nice to have some veggies grow in my house... perhaps even after the outdoor season ends.

1.) What kind of vegetables can be grown indoors?

2.) How deep of soil should I have to grow veggies?

3.) Do I need fancy gardening lights, or is sunlight through the window enough?

4.) If I do need fancy lights, would the cost of the lights and the electricity come out to a lot more than buying veggies from the store?

5.) How much light do plants need in a day.

6.) If I keep them in my porch instead of in a heated room, could they die when it is cold?

We have an existing patio that is not level and not smooth. We are enlarging it and want to pour 1 inch thick concrete over the existing patio to make it all look the same and no seams. We are making the forms around the existing patio 1 inch higher then the current level. We plan to have a concrete company to pour the concrete. Is there something we need to put on the existing concrete before we pour the new concrete???

Bought a CharBroil gas grill used, noticed tape on the regulator, and realized the vent hole was taped shut. If all 3 burners are off and tank valve is open gas runs freely out the vent hole. When burners are on and I stick my nose to the regulator I can only sense a small whiff of gas. From what I've read this hole should be free of obstructions and it seems to grill better without the tape. This is my first gas grill, is this normal? What's the purpose of that vent? Thanks.

Help, I have been looking at machines and it is soooo overwhelming, especially when you are trying to teach yourself to sew (no one to show me) and don't know what all of the terms mean, bobbin , foot etc? Please give me suggestions. I want to quilt and be able to sew through thicker fabric.

I would like to add an addition to the back of my garage 16x20 and was wondering if I could build it using 4x6 treated poles as the foundation? It would have a 2x8 wood floor suspended from the poles.

Is this allowed by building codes in Sebewaing Michigan?
