Last year I had a raccoon infestation. They were bullying my cats, eating my garden, and ripping open my trash. I tried everything to get rid of them (except firearms-I live in the city). The best luck I had was purchasing a $25 Hav-a-Heart trap. I caught 22 of them, almost every night, until they were gone. I moved them 12 miles away to a state owned natural area. Better for both them and me. To date, I haven't seen one since.
Poisons are a bad choice for raccoons. Raccoons aren't likely to eat poisoned bait/food. The bastards are very smart. You also could end up poisoning someone's pet or other wildlife. A trap works best. Bait it with the ultra-cheap 29 cent canned cat food. They don't deserve the good stuff.

I am sure it is illegal to poison a raccoon or any critter for that matter.
Discourage them from your yard, be meticulous with your garbage, close up any hole under your decking so they have no where to live.
They don't like the smell of moth balls, but they are not healthy to have around .
They also do not like the smell of bleach.
Get a live trap from the SPCA and move it away from your area.
Be careful if it is a female with young, if you move Momma the babies will perish...
Good luck

Maybe try a trap or a gun? It's much more humane. I don't like to think about poisoning anything larger than a pack rat. raccoons are sorta cute and cuddly.

A little friendly advise,You don't want to poison anything.I done this once,it then crawled up in the hull of my boat and died, found it 2 weeks later.I shouldn't have to tell you how I found this out.(stink.stank.stunk)Best bet is find yourself a live trap, most s.p.c.a's have loaner traps.Good luck
