All my friends get theirs from liquor/ABC stores. The boxes are not huge, but they are well-constructed. Usually the cashiers expect this and give them away gladly.

Really depends on wether you want to buy new or use, used ones.... the liquor store is excellent for boxes as they are very sturdy and there usually happy to give away lots of those. The grocery store is a little more dangerous ...unless you use ones that were just used for boxed items...you never know what will be crawling or has laid eggs in produce boxes...gross! Are you using a moving company? They might be able to sell you some cheaper previously used boxes...I would highly recommend wardrobe boxes for your clothings...saves hours on packing clothes then having to re-hang them at your destination... most moving companies lend them to you for the move..some charge a small fee. Go to like a staples or home depot they are great at giving away boxes. Good luck with the move..... there always long days....

I put an ad on an online forum we have at work asking for moving boxes nobody needed anymore - and got several responses. Most people are happy to get rid of them!

I go to stores and ask for their empty boxes, I mean you can buy them at a moving store but they are expensive and why would you do that when you can get them for free?

Try your local supermarket or other stores that get goods delivered in hefty cardboard boxes. Cheap and environmental friendly.
