its a small pitcher plant, i just got it and i just put two 2' cool white flourescent lights on it and the old traps are dieing back and one very tall spike has grown up, it dwarfs the old traps and it doesnt look like a pitcher at all because its very flat(thin) and has a small hook at the top. it seems to grow about a half inch a day. im thrilled at the success of the plant but i dont want to mistake it for a flower stem because all other growth has ceased and i dont want it to flower.

I'm in the market in buying my first property. I was looking into some single family homes in the downtown area, as well as condominiums also in the downtown area. The homes are located in a small community, while the condominiums will be located in the heart of the city. Right in the middle of downtown Sacramento. The homes are starting in the low $400's and the condos are starting in the mid $600's. I have a strong feeling that the condos will rise in value every year as they totally redesign the downtown area. I am torn between the two, but leaning more towards the condos.

I am confused about groundcovers. I know things such as ivy or vinca or liorope are "ground covers", but where I get confused is when people start referring to astilbe or aster or abelia or candy tuft as "ground cover". These, I would call flowering perennials or flowering shrubs, but many refer to these as flowering "ground covers". What exactly is the definition for a "ground cover"? is it pretty vague term or something?

Mainly, what is the difference between calling some things " perennials" and "ground cover"?

I'm trying to grow an indoor mango tree from seed. I've done some research and have found various methods, but to date I have not had any luck.

First attempt: I took the seeds out of the husk and planted them directly in soil. The seeds ended up getting moldy and I had to throw them out.

Next, I cut one end of the husk and suspended the seed (while still in the husk) over a glass of water. I covered the whole thing with a plastic bag to make a mini greenhouse. Two of the seeds started to sprout until I realized that the seed was upside down. I turned the seeds around but then they died a few days later.

I tried this method again with more seeds, but this time right side up. Two of the seeds sprouted and one of them produced a ~5" shoot with tiny little hairlike filaments near the top. At this point I moved it from the pantry to a window sill where it could get light. After a few days, the hairlike filaments turned black and it died.

What do I need to do differently?

I mean REALLY a difference, like pipe-wise. Is it the same water source or is our toilet water the same as our bathroom sink water?

Any light shed is appreciated.

My husband has been told to eat cherries or drink cherry juice daily to help fend off gout. We would like to plant something in our yard from which we can get cherries for that purpose but don't want to wait several years for a tree type to bear. Has anyone out there grown Nanking cherries and if so, can they be eaten without cooking or are they to sour? How about as a sweetened sauce? thanks.

that it doesn't seem to desolve very well? I have used Surf for years and it used to be my favorite soap. It smelled great and cleaned well. I have noticed since it has All in it now, it doesn't clean as well and when I handwash, it is difficult to get all the soap sprinkles to desolve and sometimes there are some soap spots on the clothes when they dry. Surf used to be a good soap like tide and cheer but now it seems to be like the cheap detergents.
