I mean REALLY a difference, like pipe-wise. Is it the same water source or is our toilet water the same as our bathroom sink water?

Any light shed is appreciated.

I know it sounds bizarre. You would think that the local governments when designing our plumbing systems would have thought to use well water or rain run-off from a tank for our toilets instead of wasting perfectly good drinking water for flushing down our toilets. Most likely you have a main water supply from the city that splits under your house some where and supplies both your toilet and your sink. Again, the only exception could be is if some one was actually smart enough to provide water to your toilet from a well or a rain water tank or have a pump to a local stream etc. You would have to take a look see under your house to make the determination. Lastly there could be a filtration system that feeds your sink that is bypassed for your toilet. The filtration system could be under your sink, or there could be a larger filtration system in your garage or outside.

All water in the house comes from the same source. Water in the sinks and toilet is the same type of water.

Almost always it is the same water. However, houses with water softeners MAY be plumbed so that hard water (i.e., from before the water softener) is routed to the toilets. There is no need for soft water in the toilet, so using hard water for this purpose will make the soft water go a little further.

Sink and Toilet will get same water.

Kitchen sink might get some different water if you have a
under sink water filtration unit.

It is the exact same water, from the exact same pipes.

There is, however, a big difference in what sits in your sink versus what sits in your toilet.

Or at least there should be.

All comes from one main pipe into your home and divides where needed. Same water.
