We switch out the storm door with a screen with the seasons, and have done so for several years, but this year we have a layer of ice on the inside of the storm door and it freezes shut. Any idea why this is happening?

WHY DO SOME OF YOU PEOPLE USE SUCH BAD LANGUAGE. YOU DON'E SEEM TO HAVE ANY PRIDE IN YOURSELVES ~~ AND YOU ALL KNOW WHO YOU ARE. ONE QUESTION ASKED HOW TO GET RID OF BUGS IN THE DISHWASHER, AND A FEW OF THE ANSWERS WERE DISGUSTING. SHE NEEDS HELP ~~NOT YOUR DIRTY LANGUAGE AND TELLING HER TO EAT BEANS. NO MANNERS AT ALL. IT'S VERY OFFENSIVE, TO SAY THE LEAST!!!!!

I need to run in and out of one of the two stores tomorrow morning to buy a whole bunch for my job. If they do sell them...and I am assuming they do, please let me know what section to look for them so I can run in and out without speaking to anyone who works there and generally never knows where anything is anyway.

I had a landscaper come to my home and provide a bid and his license # is on his card. Is this a contactors license or is there another type of licensing board for landscapers? What sources should I check the license against?

I have a VERY tight budget, and there are 2 of us (my boyfriend and I) that share this room. We have a lack of organizational skills, and we are not very motivated in the laundry aspect. Once clothes get washed, they are thrown on the floor.. clean pile vs. dirty pile. Y'know that kind of thing.

As well, we do not have a suitable dresser, we are waiting for a friend to deliver a dresser. Besides that, what can I do to organize my room? To keep it clean? We don't have a lot of time to clean, and anything we can do to keep it clean once its clean is helpful.

Lastly, just a quick list of the basic stuff in our room:
bed, desk, shelf, small dresser, closet

Links to any websites with cheap organizational items in Canada are appreciated as well, but not required =low budget

So,there's suddenly green paint over our mailbox stand. Who knows how it happened.

My question is-Should I paint over it? Or should I try to get it off.... somehow? And if so,how?!

Thanks!

I want to make an indoor garden. Specifically a hydroponic garden. I have been reading up on the subject, but there is so much info out there. Does anyone have any tips for me? What type of lights do you use? What type of system do you have? I have a good sized room in the basement I will be useing, and am interested in growing fruits and veggies and flowers. I was also wondering what is the easiest to grow to start out with.
Thanks for any info!!

At about 7pm I got locked out of my apartment. I called a locksmith and asked how much they cost. They said $75. The guy came, said it was a 5 pin lock, he couldnt pick it, and hed have to drill and open it, and replace it. In total, he charged me $600. The door wasnt even truly locked-- I hadnt turned ther key. It just locks automitcally behind me. Ithink it could be jimmied with a credit card, but he said he couldnt, there wasnt enough space. Did I get ripped off?

From an earlier question from Ziggy_uk, hellequin gave the following answer.

"It is most likely to be the diaphragm in the diverter valve, they become slack after a period of time. When you turn on a hot tap the differential pressure on the diaphragm pushes a pin which in turn switches a microswitch, the microswitch "tells" the boiler to fire up and heat the water, if the diaphragm is slack the pin won't make constant contact with the microswitch."

Ziggy did you get it repaired and if so how much did it cost.
Hellequin, what do you think it would cost for this sort of repair.

I have the same problem, not sure how old my boiler is as I have only been in the flat since last August.

My tiler cut the wires of my underfloor heating mat today and didnt tell me. I have just discovered the system is not working--its a devimat. I cannot retile the bathroom as there is a very weighty castiron bath in place. Do I have to forfeit the system or is there a way round this.? I would really appreciate an informed reply as I am very upset by this. Its the latest in a long list of damage caused by the contractors

I have a multi-leveled house that has NO heating on the top level (where all the bedrooms are). We have a swamp cooler for air conditioning that runs through vents into the rooms. We have central heat in the basement and main level of the house. We also have a wood burning stove in the main level and a fireplace in the living room (that is just up a few stairs from the main level). What would be the least expensive way to get some kind of heating upstairs? Should we put in a whole separate heating unit, or is there a cheaper way to some how make it so we can use what we already have but vent it into the rooms somehow? A lot of people say to just use the downstairs heat and since heat rises, it will go into the bedrooms. This doesn't work because I have 5 levels of the house and the rooms are on the top ... the heat never makes it all the way up there. =-)
Any advice would be really helpful!
Thanks!

I'm having trouble with the water pressure in my refrigerator's water dispenser. I've cleaned all the water lines, yet the pressure is still low. The trouble shooting guide said the low pressure could be caused by a reverse osmosis system. I've just purchased the house, and wasn't aware of any such system. What is it and how to I tell if I have one. (I have city water, not well water.)
