I have a garage about 5 metres from the back of my property that i have converted into a room, and i was wondering how difficult or practical it would be to build an undercover walkway from my back door to the garage. i think it would help us use the room more if we could walk straight through without getting wet!!
any input greatly appreciated.

My friend has three indoor cats and is wondering if there's a natural repellant which won't upset the cats. Would burning a cedarwood oil help? Any other ideas?

with my air conditioning unit i'm having a problem. In the winter my living room/ kitchen/ dining are very warm, but the rooms on the other end of the house are about 15 degrees cooler. also in the summer, my kitchen/ living room/ dining are nice and cool while other rooms are hot! i've been leaving the doors open to let the air circulate but i've had no luck getting my house one temperature. i have a small 3 bed 2 bath house ... so why is the temperature so inconsistent? i was thinking i might need to get the vents cleaned .... would that help?

As i said, i'm doing a science project on how cigerette smoke will affect a plant's growth. However that's not what i'm asking the question about. I was wondering if any one had an idea of some kind of plant that will grow in a few days or at least one week. I only have three weeks to finish the project and i need a name of a plant that will grow quickly. And it needs to be a name that i can find in a local plant store or stores that have plant sections in them. I appreciate any ideas.

I'm wanting to use it during winter on reverse. I heard it will force the rising heat back towards the floor and save energy. I can't remember which way it rotates.

My landlord recently replaced the electric water heater in my house. So I have a brand new 50-gallon electric water heater. However, my electric bill has not gone down in cost. The water heater is in the unheated basement and the water comes from a cold water well.

A timer is not really a good option since we use hot water at various times of night and day, and the temperature setting has already been reduced.

How do I purchase and install an insulation blanket for the hot water heater? Any tips for installation that I should know?

a house i am interested in has holes drilled all around the external walls about a foot from the ground. the holes are empty. could this be from a chemical damp proof course, or ventilation? if a chemical damp proof course was carried out, why are the holes not filled? could it be from flooding?

Had the mattress (only a few months old) professionally cleaned already. The only problem is that doing so only worked about 65% on the smell. I'm told the mattress has been sanitized now though and it's good for use again. But how can I ultimately rid the mattress of its prevailing smell? Products, tips, or anything else please!

I am building an 8' x 10' building with a roof that slants. One load bearing wall is 8'-9 1/8" (east side) in height, the other is 7'-6 1/16" (west side). I am not sure how to tie in the sill plates to the North and South walls which have a height range from above mentioned lengths.
Thank you for your time!

I've seen a property i really like and my offer has been accepted. however, the external walls have a line of holes drilled all around near the bottom of the house. also, the skirting board has started to come away from the wall on one side of one room. is this likely to be from damp or flooding? how do you tell? i intend to have a home buyers report done, but would like to find out about it myself also.
