Use a scoring pad, S.O.S pad and scrub in a circular motion. Rinse completely with HOT water! Make sure you dry the skillet on the stove top. Once dried coat the skillet with shortening and place in the oven on 300 for about an hour. This will reseason the pan. After you use the skillet, do not wash the pan using soap, just use hot water. After everytime you use it make sure to put a thin layer of shortening or oil in the pan. The more you use it, the less time it will take to clean. Hope this helps!

Oil it inside and outside heavily and let it set. The oil should loosen the rush and then you can soap it down and wash it in hot water. When you have the rust off reoil it and wipe it down with paper towels but leave it oily.

Normally you really do not wash a cast iron pot with water. You know iron+water makes rust. So always thoroughly clean it with paper towels and rub with oil.

Try an S.O.S. pad. They remove rust well on other metals. After you get the rust out, don't wash the pan anymore in water. I believe they are meant only to be wiped with a paper towel after use.

I have used fine steel wool, with some vegetable oil for a lubricant. When you get the rust off, then you need to re - season the skillet. just coat it liberally with vegetable oil, and put it in a 300 deg. oven til it is smoking hot. then let it cool slowly. it should be fine then.

Put oil on it and scrub with a plastic scratchy thingy.

Only ever use oil to clean a cast iron skillet.

I saw this trick on one of those cleaning shows, only it was to remove rust from knives. Cut an onion in half, and rub the cut half on the rust. It will come right off.

A PIECE OF STEEL WOOL AND COOKING OIL, ONCE YOU GET THE RUST OFF, YOU'LL HAVE TO RE-SEASON THE SKILLET.

The product called CLR ( calcium, lime, rust) is awesome. It hasn't met it match yet in my household. You can get it at Wal-mart or any place like that.
