If you really want dark blue in your kitchen try it on one wall and see what it looks like. If you don't like it you can pick another color.

I laughed when I read this because it is something I would do but just won't. Why? All that cooking in a dark blue kitchen will leave you sweating like nothing else. It does need to be a lighter color. The kitchen is supposed to be a bright happy place and while for you and me the dark blue may be "Happy", it may not be the best idea. NO white though.

With cherry cabinets, the shade of blue will be really dark, natural light or not.
Consider a sage green, pale lemony yellow, or a lighter shade of blue.
Most paint companies now offer sample sizes. pick up a few of a variety of colors and test them out. It's alot cheaper than realizing 2 gallons and 3 months later you can't stand the color.

NO it will be so dark and depressing. Also will be very hard to cover that dark blue when you repaint. Go for a pretty cheery color. Yellow (light creamy) with dark blue accents. Years ago I painted my woodowork and paneling in the kitchen dark blue. The top of the wall was papered. It was cute, but a paint to cover. Good Luck

What color is your floor? Will the walls work with it or will the blue make the room appear smaller? Dark blue could work in the right kitchen setting. As long as you have accents to balance the dark moodiness of the blue. Lots of gold or silver sparkle. Copper pots hanging up would look nice. Finish it with light curtains.
You need lots of sparkle and wall charms or the blue will just be dark and depressing.

Go for it. A dark navy blue will make it look very classy. It will also highlight and nicely frame any art or wall stuff you are putting on the wall. Coffee colors, clay colors any warm colors will go with your cabinets also.

cherry finish would look great with a golden-tan, mustard yellow, light coral,or a sage green or celery green.blue of any shade is not a good color to use with this kind of wood finish. A good color for accents would be brick red, terra cotta, black. copper or bronze or black cabinet hardware will work better than silver or chrome or pewter/nickel.

Never be scared of color!!
Try a small piece first, live with it for awhile, if you like it, by all means paint, paint, paint..you can always change the color later on!!
Some people have a Big phobia of painting natural wood...it's not to every ones liking, you don't have to live with what you have..
Have fun !!

If you are in to Americana then paint it blue. If you are not, some appropriate colors would be pale creamy yellows, and sage greens. Theses colors will work best and go well with any type of flooring. They also give you a wide range of decorating types to go with.

No blue, go with something with some yellow/orange to it! It will keep it bright and will bring those cabinets out.
