A few years ago I put Pergo Red Oak floors in my kitchen. Now I'd like to continue it from the kitchen into my dining room. The problem is that Pergo no longer makes this particular color/style and none can be found anywhere on the internet (eBay, Craigslist, Bob Villa, etc). Pergo does make a similar product that they say is compatible in color/style (close but not exact match). So my question is - should I continue with the red oak that is now available, or do I go with a different style/color - like Mahogony, Cherry, Birch, Ash, etc? What would be less dorky - different shade of oak, or different wood completely?

I'll add that there is only a 30" passage between the kitchen and dining room, so it's really two separate rooms - not like one room opens into another (like a great room).

My monster aloe vera plant keeps collecting dust, and I always have to wash it off with the Clorox disinfecting wipes because it collects dust easily. I would like to use that Pledge to prevent it from collecting dust unless it will harm the plant.

Will the extended warm spell we've been experiencing in Pennsylvania this winter adversely affect the plants? In the past month I have seen forsythia blooming and crocus' and other spring bulbs starting to appear. Will they recover or I have lost the bulbs I've put in?

Many thanks for the information.

Everytime we leave the bedroom light on for too long ( say 30 minutes or more ), I open the door to the faint smell of something that resembles burning rubber and it gives me a headache. Is my wiring burning, the ceiling fan going bad or what?

We have a gas furnace that usually works just fine. There is an intermittent problem that surfaces occasionally, and it seems to come up on the coldest days. Maybe the amount of use it gets on colder days worsens the problem... I'm not sure.

When the thermostat triggers the heater, I can hear it click on, and I hear the heater start to rev up. It gets to the part where I usually hear the big "WHUP" of the gas inside igniting, but it doesn't happen. Instead, the whole system just kind of... winds down and turns off. Very disappointing.

It sometimes helps if I take the front panel off and gently shake all the wires and connections a bit. I'll put the panel back on and try it and everything will ignite and heat wonderfully. But when it's happening a lot, this only fixes it the first few times. After a few times, even this won't work. At that point, a whack to the side with my fist will usually get it working. If not, we just wait an hour or so until it comes on.

It's an older house and there is no 3 prong dryer outlet, I need to install one. Don't know if the dryer needs a dedicated line to the breaker box or not. If it does need it's own line what are my options? What what other line could I share if any?
