before doing anything FIRST quickly go through all the stuff and CATAGORISE it into important, unimportant and useful stuff
keep only the most important stuff and you could call up your church and ask them if they might need some of it ,, incase any of it may be useful.

Now I am talking about the Tampa Fl. area. When you have large pieces of anything you call your trash service and arrange a specific pickup. They usually do that on Saturdays.
If it is an appliance, some discount stores will pick them up for the parts.
In this area we have a company with trucks and everything that is called "YOU GOT JUNK?" I just saw one of their truck last evening. They pick up, if is steel poundage they make the money.
I'm sure it depends on the items as to how to deal with them.
Here we get out trash collection charged for in our taxes so we pay no trash bills. There is a collection station near us and we haul and empty there (you just need your tax bill for proof of ownership) It is placed in the appropriate truck beds. Steel (metal), construction waste, biodegradable. This is for large stuff, we have twice a week collection otherwise. They take an amazing amout of larger stuff from the curb.

I think I understand the question and I'll give my input. If you haul it to the front yard and sit it by the curb it will still be junk furniture and nobody will touch it.
However.....If you put a "FOR SALE" sign on it and leave it out overnight someone will steal it. Good Luck

I put them out and a special trash truck with a large claw picks it up for free
but put them out side with a sign on them saying 25 dollars or best offer,
one of five things will happen
1) you get $25 for them
2) you get less for them
3) some one steals them at night
4) no one takes them at all and you need to bring them to the dump and pay to get rid of them....
5) you chop them up in tiny parts and throw them in your regular garbage each week until all gone
good luck

I agree place the furniture in a place that the public will see. If you place a sign "free" no one will take it. Place a sign "$20.00" and someone will relieve you of your items and not pay you. Hey,,,, it works.
