Our basement had 4 light fixtures and I took them down and split both ends, the white and black wire and capped them. I needed to do this to do the 2 x 2 wood frames in prepartion for new can lighting and drywall on the ceiling. My question is, since these wires are still hot is it ok to leave them like that? They are looped over conduit and cannot move. Thanks! We should be chaning them out very soon.

For almost two months now I have been dealing with little gnats in my kitchen. I found a potato that had been forgotten about in the cabinet and disposed of it. After reading online I thought I had a case of fruit flies. But I watched them and caught one and examined it and know positively they are fungus gnats. I have kept up with taking trash out, dishes cleaned, etc. but they have taken over the kitchen and bathroom now. They are starting to migrate all over the house. I don't own any plants and am at my boiling point with these things. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

I got a lemonade tree as a gift 18 months ago. I put it in the ground in a lawn, but then grasshoppers ate every leaf on the thing. I found out they don't like being in lawn, so I have put it in a garden bed with lots of sun, but the tree is still quite sparse of leaves and doesn't grow flowers. The leaves aren't a deep green they are a bit pale. What TLC can i give it to bring it back to health?

The water builds up at the bottom of my dishwasher, and I have to scoop it out with a can. there is no visible blockage, so I'm not sure what's wrong. Does anyone, especially a plumber, have any ideas of what might be wrong? Would something like LiquidPlumr work?

I live in Minnesota (don't know if that really matters for this question, but just in case you need to know for regulations or something on research), and I need to get my water purified! I am spending about $37/month for 1 gallon jugs of drinking water. My shower ( i have 3 full baths), toilets, and sinks get yellow with rust stains . My laundry turns yellow, even when I use bleach! What kind of purification system can I get that will filter my whole house and give me an under-the-sink drinking water system? I prefer something that is going to actually work and save me money. Does anyone know of anything? Thanks!

My underwear or other small articles of clothing always turn inside-out whenever I wash them, and if it doesn't happen in the washer, it happens in the dryer. I am getting sick of turning them rightside-out every time. How can I prevent them from turning inside-out?

I am cleaning the bathroom and in the sink is white porcelain. Around the faucet it's yellow and looks "burnt" - I'm thinking it's lime or mildew or something from the water?
How do I get rid of it? I am trying Clorax with bleach (and scrubbing with a scrubber) as well as other items that say they are for soap, mildew scum, etc....but nothing seems to be working.

What about plain ole' bleach??
OR

I am also gonna scrub down the shower/bath which isn't as bad, but still has some "water" stains that are from the water faucet.

Any suggestions, ideas would help!

Thank you!

My washing machine has been doing this for months now and the only way to get it to stop wobble wobbling is to lift up the lid and move the clothes around, but then it just does it again in a few minutes. It does this really bad on the spin cycle and I usually have to turn it off completely. Any ideas? It's driving me and my neighbor crazy. Please help!

My Mom is finally going to replace her Jenn Air downdraft cooktop and likes the idea of the glass/smooth surface because it should be much easier to clean than coils. As long as one is careful NoT to use anything abrasive on it, and uses the right cleaning product, are they easy [or hard] to clean? and keep clean???

Also, she's worried about the possibility of breaking the glass top. I know many people have...and she's worried that she may accidentally drop a pot and ruin her new stove. Does one have to be extremely careful? not to break it? It seems to me, one has to simply learn a whole new way of caring for/cleaning and a new way of cooking, basically. Is this right?

We'd just like some help from those of you with experience with this type of cooktop. Is ceramic really best, or should she be satisfied with coils? Thanks Very Much!

I have just purchased a Kenmore sewing machine and I am trying to get more accessories such as buttonhole foot etc. Looking on Kenmore website some feet are to be used with vertical sewing machines other with horizontal ones and I have no idea what is the difference between the two of them. And also, if my sewing machine is Kenmore do I have to buy feet for it only from Kenmore or any other cheaper brand would work, too? Thank you in advance for your help.
