I recently purchased a mooth top electric stove. It is very nice, and I would like to hear other opinions.

I grew up with an electric stove, rented an apartment with a gas stove and bought this house, which came with a flat top. The flat top is my favorite for all of the positive reasons listed above. I've found that it heats just as well as electric, gas heats too fast IMO.

I've got the special cleaning paste too, but I only use it once in a while to give it a nice polish. For everyday cleaning I keep a small spray bottle with an H20 + Spi c 'n Span solution handy, and wipe it down with paper towel.

Sometimes you'll get food or liquid burnt onto the surface. I let the top cool down completely. Then place a damp, sudsy dishcloth over the crud for a few minutes to loosen it up. Then, ever so gently, I use a Brillo or S.O.S. pad to scour it off (baking soda is a great scouring tool also), but remember to be very, very gentle so you don't scratch the surface.

Enjoy, you're going to love it!

Things You’ll Need: Stove top cleaner Razor blade Paper towels Step1 Remove any spilled food. Some food may be baked on which is where a sharp razor blade will come in handy. Scrape the food off; but be careful not to scratch the surface. Apply pressure evenly while holding the blade at an angle. Step2 Wipe up the scrapings with a paper towel. Step3 Apply the special smooth top stove cleaner to the surface. Wipe it evenly over the entire stove. Allow the product to sit for a couple of minutes. Step4 Using a clean paper towel buff the product off of the stove top. Move the towel in small circles until all of the product has been wiped up. **************************** Tips : Replace the razor after every few cleanings. It’s important to have a sharp blade. Do not use any abrasive sponges or products on the surface. This could leave scratches.

Mine has been in the home since 1965 and just now has become scratched and ugly (I had renters in the home for 9 years who did not take care of it.). It adds to the appearance of the kitchen, allows me to use it for other things (sorting mail, etc.). For 9 years, I had to use a regular stove, and the cleaning was much more difficult, with grease and grime needing daily attention. Cooktops are easier to take care of, using the cleanser, and using the correct pots and pans. Which is the same for all kinds of stoves, electric, gas or whatever. Even my grill needs to be cleaned. As to hearing up fast, believe me, I've never had a problem until now, and only one burner has stopped heating. I will buy a new cooktop, as 40 years of service is a pretty good testimonal, isn't it? Enjoy.

I have one in the place I am renting. If you never want to use it for cooking, it is great. I hate it with a passion. It is NOT easy to clean. I have never had to scrub a coil type stove and hard as I have to scrub this thing. If something boils over, you will have a half day project to get it clean. As far as cooking on it, I hate that as much. One of the worst parts is when you go to stir a pot, you better hold on to it or you will be chasing it all over the stove.

I love mine & I think they heat up just fine. It does take a little extra to keep it clean but at least it's clean when you're done.

The only problem I've ever had I only realized when my daughter asked me about it and that's with copper bottom pans. They do not seem to heat as fast as my stainless steel or cast iron.

I only have two of those pans so it isn't that much of a big deal but it does seem to make a difference.

i have one and think they are great as far as appearance
and for clean up, my only true concern is my kids getting
burned because the burner may still be hot even though
the light has went out.

but i prefer a gas top to cook-i like that you can change the
heat settings and you don't have to wait for the burner to
get hotter or cooler-its instant.

I've got one myself.....bought it a couple of years ago. I like it. Easy clean up, plus it adds to the look of the kitchen.

we have one the only problem is that you have to constantly have to clean it with a special cleaning paste after you finish cooking the pans and pots will scorch it.
