Black mold causes meany health problems, COPD, asthma, and much more. I have three kids who are severely allergic to mold and when I had to take them every other night to the Er (ok maybe not that much) but still there were many nights, so I asked the Dr about this, his reply was to buy some charcoal and stick it in a bowl where every the mold is, make sure it is not in water and out of site of small children, this will collect the mildew and moisture in the air which creates the mold. It really works too. You might also consider if it is a rental to call your local health authorities. Good luck to you !

It can be if it is:
A) toxic mold , which is bad for everyone (which most mold is not), or

B) if you have an allergy to the type of mold in your house (there are hundreds of types). Lots of people have mold allergies, which can show up as headaches, sinus or breathing problems, dry throat or a runny nose among other symptoms. Some people will have only mild symptoms, while others may need medical attention if exposed to a specific allergen.

It is best to get rid of the mold and its cause, even if you are not feeling ill because of it, you may have a guest at some point who is allergic. Also, mold is caused by excessive moisture, which can damage your walls and possible the structure of your house if not fixed.

Some molds are extremely dangerous. I lived in a house a couple years ago that had mushrooms growing out of the carpet, that's how damp it was in there. I had the mold level tested and it was 2000% higher than normal. Because of it my son and I who spent most of the time in the house have respitory issues. Not severe since we only lived there a month, but still something is not quite right with our breathing since then. Good luck.

very...there was pink mold growing in an apartment I was living in and when me and my husband moved out all our things smelt of mold like a giant mushroom, and on top of it all the mold caused my husband a heart problem. However there is no scientific evidence mold can cause those types of things, with the exception of allergies and cancer.
