DO NOT wait until spring!! Cut 6 to 8 inch tips from the end of branches now!
I You can put the butts in root-grow now and pot plant them til spring the roots will start to grow by then! I keep mine in pots for one year until they are large enough to transplant. If you wait until spring to cut the tips the sap will be trying to start flowing then and you usually end up with rotted stems. you want the roots to start growing before the new buds emerge so you have to do this before the warm weather activates the buds or you will have buds growing and no roots to feed them!!
