Give them to your local library. They then use them for book sales, to give to prisons or teenage help centers, to schools, etc. I volunteer at my local library, and my job is sorting out these books and seeing that they get to the right places. Any book can be used, as we even have a section called Surplus Books, which are books that don't fit into any other category for give aways; people can come into the library and pay 50 cents for them, and the money is put into the book sales fund, which is then used to buy brand new books. Never throw away a book, please. Someone, somewhere wants it. When living in Holland, I had to order books from USA to get something to read (No, not everyone in Holland speaks English; my small dorp had nothing in English, books, foods, etc.) So, I now appreciate that I can get as many books as I want, and am so happy when others give to let those without books enjoy this pleasure.

don't toss them; give them to the salvation army or goodwill or something; then count them as a tax deduction next year! it's worth it.
