A few years ago I put Pergo Red Oak floors in my kitchen. Now I'd like to continue it from the kitchen into my dining room. The problem is that Pergo no longer makes this particular color/style and none can be found anywhere on the internet (eBay, Craigslist, Bob Villa, etc). Pergo does make a similar product that they say is compatible in color/style (close but not exact match). So my question is - should I continue with the red oak that is now available, or do I go with a different style/color - like Mahogony, Cherry, Birch, Ash, etc? What would be less dorky - different shade of oak, or different wood completely?

I'll add that there is only a 30" passage between the kitchen and dining room, so it's really two separate rooms - not like one room opens into another (like a great room).

It really depends on what your personal preference is. Without seeing the area, I would consider a different color if it truly is a different room. If it is not well lit in the transition area, a different color would be OK. If the new model is close but not exactly, this would also work if not well lit, as the difference in colors would hardly be noticeable. Hope this helps.

it sounds like you have several choices. However I would never put a laminate floor down again in my life.

1. Continue with similar color .
2. Continue with different color .
3. Put real wood.
4. Put anything you want then add doors.

Good Luck

as long as the underlay is for laminate floor and not for carpet. sounds like you may be from England if that's the case the last owner may have had laminate down and took it with them leaving you the underlayment. the underlayment provides shock absorption between the two floors.
