i'm not really sure if they really are called gnats, but they are smaller than a fly [basically a smaller version of one], but they never get any bigger. they seem to be everywhere and i just want to get rid of them all, but i don't know where they're coming from. any way to get rid of them?

I've seen this in the past and have heard that lighting a sweet smelling candle will draw them in and kill them to spraying Lysol in the air. I've dealt with gnats before and have always somehow been able to trace it back to the Kitchen. I'd take a look at the fruit bowl first. Some people call them fruit flies/gnats. Good luck!

Occasionally, one may fly into the house as you are entering or leaving your residence. If it's only one gnat once in a while, I would not worry about it. Some (kitchen safe) bug spray will do the trick if it really upsets you. Be careful around pets when spraying!

If you have house plants this is where they are coming from use a herbicidal soap which can be bought at any garden center such as Lowes or Home Depot

They are there because there is something that is attracting them. Either the trash, ripe fruit, ripe veggies.

As long as everything is clean and there is nothing to attract them, I don't know.

If it is warm where you are and the doors and windows are open, bug spray your screens, from the inside out, that might discourage them.
