We have decided to start remodeling due to a water problem. We were going to try to preserve the wood that is on our floor boards and door casing but this job became very difficult. We decided to go ahead and purchase new door casing, pre-hung doors, and floor boards. Is this going to depreciate the value of our home. This home was built in the 20's and has never been updated besides the furnace. We just hope we are doing the right thing buy modernizing the home.

With jeans, I know you wash them together, but on what wash cycle? Delicates?
Also ties, I know you're supposed to take them to the dry cleaners, but that never gets them clean. Can't we wash them at home without buggering them up?!

i have a well water pump in my basement/it doesnt even work. It is not in any way connected to the City water that i also have. The city told me that i need to either have a Backflow Preventer put on my well line OR have the well removed, Because of EPA regulations they are afraid the well water will back up into the city water system and contaminate it? How would that happen if they are not connected in any way? Should i sue them? Thank you!

I have a fairly small bathroom that has old ceramic tile floor. I've come to the conclusion that taking up this old tile is going to be very difficult and result in some major chipping of the subfloor in the process. I'm tempted to just install sheet vinyl over the tile. Can this be done? How do I need to prepare the tile in order to lay the vinyl? Also, there's one spot behind the toilet that really needs some leveling. Is there a good floor leveler that I can trowel down that will adhere to tile? thanks.

I want to season my cast iron skillet. This is a new one I bought yesterday, so I have to scrub the coating that comes on the skillet. I keep seeing different methods used to scrub the skillet clean before seasoning it. Which is better: steel wool, a scouring pad, or a stiff natural brush (they are refered to as ecobejos {sp?} in Mexico) ???
