Spider in my dining room, been there for a few weeks now, don't think it's been eating much...

Shall I put it out in the garden or just leave him be?

Well, you don't seem arachnophobic, so if he's not causing you a problem, leave him where he is. He'll be eating enough to keep him going, otherwise he'd find himself new lodgings.

I understand that every house has at least three species of spider living in it so it may be a house spider I suggest that you leave it or if you want to clean where it is put it carefully just outside a door or window where it can get in again if it wants to

I get spiders in my house all the time and if they are not big and scary looking and just kinda hanging around in a corner I usually just leave them alone. The big yucky ones that run across the floor have to go though.

If she is still alive after a few weeks, she must be eating. If you like her there let her stay. If you live in a warm climate she will be fine in the garden too. I'd say let her stay. It is what I would do. But in my house, chances are the cat would eat it.

You should take it to bed with you at night and don't forget to put a dead fly on your forehead. Hopefully it is a black widow spider or better yet a Camel Spider.

Put him in the garden or there may soon be many if it has young. Plus its free natural insectacide.

If you worry thta he might come down and bite, or just scare people who come to your house (I would be, I hate spiders), go move him out side. If he is not bothering you at all, you can just keep him there. Or he might be dead if he has not moved in a while.

Put him out and clean up the cobwebs. Unless there are flying insects in your house, he isn't going to catch anything and will die there. At that point, you'll have to put him out anyway.
