My style is French Country. The colors of my curtains are floral with French Blue, Yellow, Red. My walls all over the house are off-white. I am choosing among 3 nice ones: (1) gold persian design (2) yellow with blue lattice design (3) patterned (not as busy as persian) earth-tone terracota with black border

They have been covered with carpet for years but I will pull the carpet & prep the floors. I live in WV where the contractors are typically cheaper than bigger metro areas. Thanks

My husband and I live with three cats (all different colours), a yellow labrador, a pet rat, and a small child. We are planning to spend up to $2,000 on a new sectional sofa unit for our living room where we spend most of our time. The animals cannot be kept out of this space.

I am thinking leather (or imitation leather) would be easiest to keep free of hair and dirt, and to wipe up spills from. My husband says cloth is just as good if you get it Scotch guarded. I also want to know if anyone has had cats claw on their sofas and how they stopped it - only one of my cats has had his nails yanked and it wasn't me. I would hate to invest all this money (we are not rich) and have the couch destroyed or filthy in no time.

Thanks all!

I have 2 Powerbolt 3000 keyless door locks, and the poorly made remotes break too easily and are too expensive to replace. Does anyone know of sturdier replacement?

My girlfriend and I just purchased a condo. One thing that we overlooked is that there are no ceiling lights in the bedrooms (3). There are wall switches that operate wall-outlets.

Is it possible to add ceiling lights / fans to the rooms and how much of a pain is it to do ??

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have heard of a type of wood that comes from Africa that does not hold heat. Does anyone know the name of this wood? If so, have you used it and are there any pointers as to its durability?

I have a garden tub that I want to put rod pocket valances above the bottom up blinds. I think I can find the rods since I would LIKE it to be one continuous valance with no breaks. OR...any other suggestions would be helpful. Not opposed to a scarf valance as well. Tried googling it...but not much luck.

We are purchasing a home and the floor near the toilet is mushy..when you step all around its dips in...The inspector said it was from an old floor leak...but he didnt' tell us how to fix it, but said it was a minor problem. can someone advise me how exactly to fix this and how serious it really is ? house is on a slab. there is supposed to be a crawl, but we couldn't find one. Must be buried under floors or carpeting somewhere.

guessed it. They've shrunk. They now make my bum look big and they're about 1-2 inches shorter. Is there anything that can be done? I didn't want to take them to the dry cleaners, as I wanted to save money.

Well, now it clicks ALL the time even when all the gas buttons are in the off position. No gas is escaping, just the electic clicky noise. Driving me bonkers. . .diagnosis please
