Try both of these methods together.

1) Use a dehumidifier to lower the humidity in your house.
2) Place a small glass of wine in a place where the fruit flies are most common.

I had this problem years ago, and tried both methods together, and never saw those guys again.

I used this remedy for the first time this year and it works.
Put 2 oz. of cider vinegar in a small juice glass, add two to three drops of liquid dishwashing soap, do up several of these glasses and set around the house, wait a day or two and look thru the bottom of the glass, you won't believe how many are in the bottom of the glass.
Also check around your kitchen for any rotten potatoes or onions that you may have in a bag as they will attract the fruit flies.

I have the answer..... put a bit of fruit, or vinegar in a closed/lidded container poke a small hole in the lid about the tip of a pen in size. Just so they can get in but cant figure out how to get out. Its like a trap. A clear container is best so you can see your catch. Let them go outside at the end of the day , and start over again.

Also you may want to remove all food sources, seal bread, refrigerate fruits, and cover drains too...they like to breed in drains.

Wash all your surfaces with diluted bleach rag. This should do it.

They are tough little boogars arent' they? Anyhow, they produce so quickily it is often hard, but you must not only get rid of any fruit you currently have, but also, check your house plants, they are also a breeding ground for them. There are plant sprays on the market, but check first for safety if you have animals and children. If that does not work, you might need to hire a professional.

keep your kitchen area clean of decomposing veggies/fruit. you can try to trap the flies in a glass of white wine overnight. make sure you empty it in the morning. in a few days any remaining flies will die off if there's nothing for them to eat or lay new eggs in.

If they are surrounding your plants, this has worked for me in the past. Take a FEW drops of ivory dish soap in a spray bottle and spray the soil of your plants.

Those little flies are anoying little buggars, aren't they?
