Hi!
I have an older 70's model wall mounted toilet in a half bath in my basement and when we drain our tub or dishwasher upstairs we get a very strong rotten egg / methane smell downstairs..
Besides the wax/sponge ring from the toilet what could be the other causes before I attempt replacing the ring because the toilet is not leaking water..Any comments would be greatly apppreciated...Thanks in advance.
I have been in the house for two years this winter and it is always worse when its cold?..I also have a septic that has been pumped and there is no visible cracks in my foundation. The home is also a split level with no floor drains...

Hello guys,

I'm a marketing student at FIT. My group is doing an assignment (due very soon) wherein more research is required. So, if you have a moment, please review our concept and comment on if you think it works, or what you would like to see included. I find bloggers to be very honest, direct and they comment quickly!

Concept: As a brand extension, H&M will publish a consumer magazine that rounds up an affordable array of home goods and displays the featured items in a room styled by H&M designers.

The target market for the magazine is comprised of Current H&M Brand-Loyals. These are people who appreciate the h&M aesthetic (a mix of basics and fashion forward pieces that allow people to create an individual look, while staying within their budget). They like browsing the stores and looking at the design concepts that H&M has on mannequins, and then buying pieces and tailoring their own look. We think they'd like to do the same at home.

What do you guys think?

I have some pine window frames that are bleeding some brown from behind the paint and I wonder if they have some water that is being held in there even from the factory. My oak window frames that are nearly 100 years old dont have this problem but the younger 30 year old pine does. Is it possible that there are cheaper pine frames that just cant handle the weather over time? Should I replace the exterior frame finish boards with some pressure treated boards to stem the damage?

Okay my bed spread is light pink with black polka dots... I am going to paint the walls but I don't know what to do! I don't want just plain walls, I don't want dots all over my walls, and strips just don't go with my room! Does anyone have a creative idea I could do? Or just any plain idea?

It's at least 50 years old, and the bobbin is unlike any I've seen on any other machine, including my other antique singer table. Which has broken, or I'd use it instead of worrying about this one.

I have 6 recessed lights in my basement with white solid (not baffle) trims that are sized for R30 with no space on the sides. I would like for these lights to give off more lighting. I have video taped my daughter walking her first steps and other firsts, (we hang out here most of the time) and it's a bit dark. So, I'm thinking I need more light to get better video/photos. Will replacing the baffles (or whatever you call them) give me more light? If so, will reflective be better than step baffle, etc?

I want to get my girls bunkbeds and I like what I see at IKEA. However I have gotten mixed reviews when it comes to purchasing their furniture. Can I purchase the mattresses elsewhere along with sheets or will I be limited to IKEA's mattresses, sheets etc? I was told by someone that she thought because of the international sizing I couldn't just go anyplace else and purchase sheets that fit if I bought their bed.

Any suggestions?

This furnace works sometimes and sometimes not. It will cycle 5 or so times and then the next time the fan wont come on and the limit will shut off the burner. I put a new Fan/Limit Switch in last year and this intermittent problem still exists. Can anyone tell me how to jumper the limit switch and give me any advise about other reasons the blower may not come on all the time? Thanks.

I just bought an indonesian dining room table and chairs - very dark teak. My diningroom has a yellowish mushroom color wall extending from the livingroom meeting a coolish dark brown feature wall directly behind the table. I feel like the dark red of the wood and the coolness of the brown just aren't working - any thoughts on other colors to try - I like a deep feature wall in the dining room for mood.
