I tried to wash it w/ hot water that caused it to darken its color

well i would use the water to get the wax of then head to the store for some Brasso and start working it in. after you get the wax off if the Brasso is not working try backing soda and vinegar make it so it is still kinda chunky

What I do with my candle holders...Put them in the freezer until frozen. I take a butter knife and pop off the frozen candle wax. I guess it would depend for you on how big a piece of wax you have on there...But try it all the same. It just could work.

to clean it, try to put brass candle holder near the fire and i'm sure the wax will melt.

Try freezing them... the brass should shrink just a bit and the wax should flake right off. No harm done if it doesn't work.

Brasso, or there's this metal cleaner called Maas and it works WONDERS on any metal. Even my tongue ring looks brand-new in seconds! My coins that I collect look new, even my 1934 Mercury dime.

Boil them then use brasso.
