...on how to keep them out and how to get rid of them once they are inside. We do not have a tight house, so they have a lot of access routes inside.

I just bought a house that has a heat pump (only electric service to house). The heat pump and air handler are both original...23 years old. I am getting ready to request estimates to replace the heat pump. Should I also be replacing the air handler?

Anyone know how to get black magic marker off of a tan carpet? Its just a few marks, but I'm scared to try to rub it out and make it worse. Will steam cleaning the carpet work? My 4 yr old found a new toy....

My family and I are looking at moving to Cornwall next year and I'd be really grateful if you could let me know which area's are nice / which area's to avoid etc. I work from home so the job situation isn't a worry.

I look forward to hearing all about Cornwall - Thanks!

My mother spilled a cappacino on the floor/carpet in my car (which is made of milk) and did not clean it up, its been there about a week. Now my car smells like rotten milk. I shampoo'ed my carpent and used some neutrilizer spray (meant for cars) but it didn't help. I was thinking of using baking soda and water-I heard that is good for bad smells. Any one have any other suggestions on how to get the smell out? NO air freshners, they just make the smell worse!

We've just been told our 30yr old boiler needs to be replaced. British Gas reckon it will cost about £4000 which sounds a lot but will be safest. We only live in a 2-bed flat. I think a combi would be cheapest (our current one isn't a combi boiler). What options do we have now? We need a new one ASAP as our old one is completely broken.

I parked my car in london last week and some little *insert insult here* ran a marker pen from my rear window to the front! I'm desperate to get rid of it without damaging my car any further - please help if you can! He/She/It ran over the window frame inbetween too - so I need to remove it from the bodywork if possible.

Why do electricians always install Batten type bulbholders in Bathrooms and kitchens. Is it some regulation, and if so why?

The humming is only in the upstairs bathroom and we've isolated the noise to the toilet. It comes and goes and seems to stop when water anywhere in the house is turned on. We started turning the water to the toilet off and eventually the water wouldn't come back on. We got the water working to the toilet again but then our hot water heater started leaking and went out. Is there a possibility that these two problems are related? If they are, what are some suggestions as to how to fix it, I mean other than calling a plumber (or to fix it until we can afford a plumber). Thanks!

I've heard that wood chips are bad for grass until they fully decompose in a year or so. If I spread the dirt pile including chips now can I seed it in the spring?

My friend's sister wants her to block up the sump pump so it won't turn on and off all the time. I told her it was suppose to be at a level that if water came into her basement, it would suck up the water. It would turn on and off depending on the water level. Please give some advice and help, thank you very much.
