Why do electricians always install Batten type bulbholders in Bathrooms and kitchens. Is it some regulation, and if so why?

jayktee96 is correct, bathrooms are classified as special locations & are zoned from 0-3, you can only install certain light fittings in the appropriate zones.
Batton holders with home office skirts were common bathroom fittings prior to Jan 2004 because they were cheap. Kitchens do not come under the term special location & you can install what you like.
The difference between a bathroom & a kitchen is that, you are likely to be wet in the bathroom and your body resistance is lower, increasing the risk of being killed by electric shock.

They shouldn't be doing that any more (in bathrooms), as there are strict regulations regarding lighting fittings and their location in bathroom zones, which are classed as special areas.

has to be batten holder as "generally" the space in bathroom is smaller and a dangling wire could be touched by someone standing on chair, or seat or even worse - sink with water in it. it's shock protection part of iee regs.

No its not a regulation, We install whatever the customer wants, you only have to specify. If its a new build it could have something to do with price as they are the cheapest.
