My mother spilled a cappacino on the floor/carpet in my car (which is made of milk) and did not clean it up, its been there about a week. Now my car smells like rotten milk. I shampoo'ed my carpent and used some neutrilizer spray (meant for cars) but it didn't help. I was thinking of using baking soda and water-I heard that is good for bad smells. Any one have any other suggestions on how to get the smell out? NO air freshners, they just make the smell worse!

Spray (soak) with a mixture of vinegar and water. Dry with towels or paper towels. Next day, apply a thick layer of baking soda and leave on for a few days. Vacuum.

Hope that helps!

Hi
I would recommended cleaning your carpets and using a disinfectant like Milgo SR (may need to go to a janitorial supply store for this and ask for a disinfectant for carpet) and put it in the rinse water. Deodorizers just cover up the smell for a while and disinfectant kill bacteria in the carpet.

Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet

sometimes a spill seeps under the carpet, although it usually has a rubberized or plastic coating on the underside, it can crack or erode. if you can pull up the carpet to look, great, if not, you may try to use a high powered wet vac or gas station vacuum. I would spray the area with resolve carpet cleaner, let it soak for 5 min., reapply it, let it soak for another 5 min, scrub lightly, (to prevent fraying) with a brush then vacuum it up thouroughly. if all else fails, theres always febreeze, and if that dont work you'll always have time for it to fade away. try leaving the windows open slightly overnight for ventilation.

yeah, you've got a problem. My wife did the same thing, spilled a milk/coffee drink and her car smelled like *** for weeks. I finally took it to the car wash and sprinkled some Arm & Hammer carpet deodorizer on it and vacuumed it up. It finally dissipated, but it's a real pain.

I use Oxy Magic spray in my car where my little one spills her cups. I works really good and smells good too.
