my shower faucet is leaking from hot water side through the cold water side. It's too corroded to tell the size. Can't afford a plumber to come out, right now. I turned the hot water off, that's how I know its on the hot water side. They (both sides) have been changed before but they weren't the correct size either. Had a plumber tell me they would have to change out everything behind the wall and that's why I can't afford them right now.

Council bans danger doormats

Council officials have ordered tenants to ditch their outside doormats as they pose a 'tripping risk'.Health and safety officials at Bristol City Council say 'hazardous mats' outside doors could hamper escape routes. The council will let people keep mats inside their own front doors - but say all outside mats must go.
Ted Marshall, chairman of the Brookridge House tenants association in Henbury, said: "These people must be sitting in offices with nothing better to do."Another tenant, retired gardener Roger Perry, 62, of Henbury, Bristol, intends to defy the ban. He said: "It is so pointless. I'm keeping mine here to see what they do. If they take it, that's theft."All the council's 32,000 tenants got a letter demanding removal of mats by September 18.It told them they "represent a tripping hazard and they should be removed immediately".

I have 2 puppies. My female will grow to about 150 pounds. My male about 180. I plan on putting posts in at half the normal distance. The fence near the side door will be 5 feet high. And I plan on making the back 6 feet high. I'm in Milwaukee and heard I have to go below the frost line. How deep would you dig?

I'm moving into a new place that has a really ...interesting... mint green carpet. The carpet is in great shape and since it's a rental I am not really about to replace the carpet. It's a pretty bright green, but I'm not sure which colo(u)rs of paint would make it look good.

Any suggestions?

I have a chimney which is utilized for a oil burning furnace. I know I can not add a woodburner to the same flue. If I wanted to install a woodburner, how big (diameter) does the flue have to be for each. And what kind of cost is it to install two flues into a pre-exsiting chimney? Or is it just worth installing a new metal chimney off the side of the house?

I have a basic question, even when I leave town when all my windows doors are closed there is still lot ofdust accumulated. I'm puzzled. I was out of the country for 2 months. When I left I cleaned my place spotless, closed all the doors and windows, quite air-tight. To my surprise when I came back, I saw dust everywhere, on top of my TV screen, phone, kitchen cabinets. I dont't see any air gaps in my doors, windows. I know this sounds silly, but there must be an explanation.

I am going to be closing my inground pool for the first time this year. I watched a company do it last fall, so I have a pretty good idea what to do. However, they had a machine to blow out the lines from the filter to the pool. What can I use to do that myself. I have heard using a shop-vac on reverse, however I don't know if I will be able to create a good seal between the pipe and the shop-vac, or if it is even strong enough. Any suggestions?
