I'm moving into a new place that has a really ...interesting... mint green carpet. The carpet is in great shape and since it's a rental I am not really about to replace the carpet. It's a pretty bright green, but I'm not sure which colo(u)rs of paint would make it look good.

Any suggestions?

A mocha color on the walls, with cream trim would be beautiful. Look at Restoration Hardware online for some beautiful pics of "done" living areas. Or you can go to www.behr.com and try out color swatches online to see how they would look with your decor. Good luck!

I would go with a very pale/light shade of mint green. Choose the paint many shades lighter than the carpeting. This way, the whole room becomes a backdrop for the other colors you like. You already have the flowered bedding and purple curtains. Now you can add a colorful throw rug and some nice art/posters for the walls. Keeping the whole room in the same colr allows your other colorful items to stand out. If you want another color option for the walls, I would go with a very very light purple,

Well it sounds...charming? lol Here's a decorators tip: find a fabric, painting, throw pillow, or anything that has a design and multicolors INCLUDING this lovely mint green, and you'll have a variety to choose from and you'll know that they will look good together. Snip a few strands of the carpet and take it to the fabric store and look for something that has that color in it. I would think you'd want to go with something neutral since the carpet is so outstanding. Have fun! Godloveya!

try a rich deep dark brown.. like coffee bean or mahogany, do the one or two walls first,,the focus point wall is always best,,mean the first wall you see walking into that room, then go into a really pale also celery green as your base and trim colors to break things up..all your accent pieces should be the dark,,coffee bean ,,mean vases on the coffee tables ,,liter pieces which would be to pick up the rug by the dark colored walls,,and remember the ceiling can be painted as well,,stay away from white..hope it helps,,yes i am a decorator...oh yeah one more thing 60s retro dark furniture is very cool and chic right now and its still kinda cheap..HGTV.COM is a good place to see some of these ideas

A light pink will look lovely, although if you a man then a nice creamy ivory may suit you more, or even still a nice mint colour will give you a nice green room.

I'm sure you'll get used to it, doesn't sound awlful and alot of things work well with mint green. I'd stick to the tan or mocha colors.

tan, chocolate, ivory all very safe. If the right color green, navy blue and a light rust can punch it up. Sounds weird, but really looks good .
