Thank you all for your suggestions. Decided to go for wooden flooring but still need help with choosing a colour to show off my decor. My sofas are black, wooden flooring and apple white(white with a hint of green). I would like to introduce a new colour using a rug,cushions and accesorises to give the lounge a brighter look.

Do you have a piece of favorite art, or a throw pillow, or even a piece of clothing that has a pattern and you're just drawn to the colors; or you could shop for something you love? Use it to decide what colors to paint your rooms. Pick out a light neutral color from your piece (apple white). Think about what color trim you would want (color #2) and do yourself a favor, keep it light and then a third color to use as accents in decor, like a "punch" color in something that really stands out. Black is so easy to decorate with. This is the way decorators decide on how to match up colors in a room. So make it easy on yourself. IT WORKS!
