I managed to remove the existing shutoff valve from underneath my kitchen sink. Now the question is do I reuse the part that looks like a ring or collar? If I should replace the "ring" with the new one that came with my new shutoff valve, how do I remove the old one? It appears to be buried way back somewhere in the existing nut.

When I finally get a good job, I'd like to invest in a foam mattress. Compared with a regular spring mattress, how good is the Swedish foam thingy (as well as the sleep number thingy, too)?

Just curious what people would think this would cost? I know it's pretty vague but any guesses? Reasonable?

1. Demolish existing sheetrock and replace w/ new. Average size room.

2. Tape all seams and mud

3. Tape and mud ceiling (new sheetrock on that is already up).

4. smooth out all areas to get ready for painting (which we will do ourselves).

TIA

I have moved into a house, and the painters.. were less than careful about getting paint on the windows. It is now hard, and I dont know how to get it off.. easily... without scratching the OLD windows. This is a victorian home with the original windows... any ideas? Thanks!

I am considering having a home built and I am leaning towards using metal studs as opposed to the traditional wood ones.
Anybody with any experiance in this area? Comments, suggestions!?!?!
Any problems with wiring or radio/tv reception? Lightning? Static problems? I was told early metal studs caused grime & dust to be attracted to the walls...

Is anyone else suffering with spiders this year? I live in the country so am used to spiders coming in out of the fields, especially at Harvest time. This year though, there seems to be a lot more than normal. On some days I have taken out ten or twelve. The final straw came last night when I found one the size of a Mini Metro in my living room....well, okay it was pretty big! My house is clean but full of spiders....any comments obviously welcomed.

I have a 100 year old cottage and over the last couple of years this crack is slowly getting wider and running down the wall; the cottage is on a road busy with trucks all day which make the place tremble like mad - would the trucks be responsible for the crack, and who do I get to check it out? A surveyor?

My dad has a car outside our house that's broken down. He hasnt used it for years and wheels are off. 2 of the wheels are piled onto each other and the car rests on those. There is a piece of carpet leaning on these wheels and i know there is a nest there because the wasps fly in and out from behind the carpet to somwhere under there. I can't use petrol or anythin flammable because there's always smokers passin by and people pass the house often (were on a main road) so i don't want to cause a danger to anyone.

it's us 3 girls living together. I haven't seen Jen do the dishes once since we moved in, she's had these boxes sitting in the hall since June, and she never cleans anything. She insisted that everyone do their own dishes so I made separate areas on the counter w/ tape and she let a huge pile of dishes sit in her area for 4 days after her party and they wreaked of beer. They spilled beer all over the carpet. The next morning instead of cleaning jen was watching a movie! so I cleaned her mess up. A couple days later she has another party which she didn't tell me or the other roommate about!! more beer spilled. When I got home I asked her about the boxes (for about the 4th time) and she rolled her eyes so i dumped them and threw the boxes away. Then I yelled at her about the dishes and never cleaning. The next morning she still didnt clean- so I cleaned it again and shampood the carpet. My dad wants her to pay him $5 for the shampoo & she refuses. She denies being a slob!! Help!
