We had gas spill on our yard. It has killed the grass already. How can we save our trees and shrubs?

There was a lot of gas spilled. It covered a big area. The grass is already dead around the trees and shrubs. It saturated the ground quite a bit

If it is just some gas like about a gallon or less that spilled and killed the surface area like the grass, big trees should be alright. But if you had a lot more gas that really penetrated into the soil down to the roots of other trees and shrubs, you can try to let the garden hose slowly soak for a long period of time to try to leach the soil in that area......that may help.

DON'T FLUSH THE SOIL with water.

Remove the soil that is contaminated and replace with high-grade top soil. This is the only way to save your plants. By the way every insect in the area was dead on contact, the root systems have already soaked up some of the poison.

depends how much, if it's just a little bit , 1/2 gal or so it shouldn't penetrate the soil deep enough to harm the trees and shrubs, grass was most likely just a contact kill it should come back eventually
