Look and see if there is an Energy Guide sticker on it. That should have a date on it.

Look for a date on it or the gas valve or look it up on the Internet call manufacture ask the previous owners ,abstract,manuals you got with the house,sticker of who mite of installed it. Why do you ask?

could be a 1981 or 2002. doesn't matter because they last longer with small familys and shorter with big ones. they leak, you replace them.
