I have moved into a house, and the painters.. were less than careful about getting paint on the windows. It is now hard, and I dont know how to get it off.. easily... without scratching the OLD windows. This is a victorian home with the original windows... any ideas? Thanks!

if you employed the painters, fetch em back to do it properly

depending on the type of paint you need a solvent, try white spirit

or.
Go to the janitorial suppliers and get a single sided razor blade holder (a razor blade mind, not a stanley knife blade) and blades, Use Copious amounts of soapy water and you will not scratch glass

You didn't say if the paint is on the glass or the woodwork frame around the windows...if it's on the glass, just use glass cleaner and a razor blade scraper. If it is on the wood, Goof Off & Goo Gone work quite well.

Use a straight edged razor blade, make sure you keep it flat against the window though or you could scratch it. Oh and you shouldn't have to press too hard either. We used to do this when I helped clean new homes.

buy the old type of razor blades. they work nicely to scrape the paint without scratching windows. (take care not to cut yourself)

Or go to the Home Depot or a local hardware store and see what they recommend

The single edge razor is the best tool, but KEEP THE SURFACE WET! Otherwise, you may scratch the glass. Use any type of soap or wetting agent to keep the glass wet.

Good luck.
