Can anyone tell me if my phlebotomist was right in telling me to have other phlebotomists draw blood for my daughters CH (congenital hypothyroidism) in some other form than from a vein? Like a heelstick or prick? He said that it causes scar tissue in the vein and that it would make it harder to draw blood from the vein if used too often. My daughter has only one 'easy' vein to draw from, so I am concerned about this. Any help?

my friend smoked pot once, and all his friends do it so i am afraid he will do it again. is that something to be concerned about, i know its like a "normal part of teen life" or whatever but i dont think it will be just one time. he is a freshman in high school. i already talked to him, he got really mad, said i dont know what i'm talking about... was that a good thing to do or did i overreact?

I'm 14 and I'm pretty sure I'm anemic.
I'm always tired, fatigued and irritable. My skin is VERY pale. I'm weak when standing up and I get lightheaded and have "dizzy spells" very easily and often.
My parents haven't yet taken me to a doctor. And I don't think they plan to quite yet.
But they told me to start taking multivitamins. They just barely help at all. Is there anything else I can do to make the symptoms I have a little less... bothersome?

How do I get my mom to believe Im really sick? She keeps saying I need to save my days, (at my school we only get 10 sick days) bcuz my aunt has had surgery on her leg and she might lose her foot, but I only used one day so far. I AM sick, and I dont want to be. (Oh, and I CAN spell, I just dont feel like it) To tell u the truth, I like school. It's the place to scialize, learn, have some fun with friends, etc. But, bcuz of my aunt, my mom wants me to save my days in case we have to travel (she lives in a diff. state), but I just need a couple days (the weekend + 1 day) to get everything together and relax my throat, bcuz at school, u have to talk if the teacher calls on u, and my throat hurts so bad its hard to talk. My temp. is 99.0, and my mom sez tht that isnt a fvr. U can be sick without a fvr, u no. Cuz I am. I just need to no how to get my mom to REALLY believe me, cuz I just need 1 Day!! Plz dnt answer me w/"go to schl, dnt b-leeve u" or "make urself puke".Tks 4 whoevr believes

i am just about to start on zyban to quit smoking, i know that i have no adverse reactions with zyban alone, as i started a treatment about a year ago that i was unfortunately unable to finish. i also suffer from scoliosis and use codeine phosphate 10mg fairly regularly to control my pain, its difficult to come up with an average of use as it varies, some days i take none, others i take up to 90mg depending upon my needs. does anyone know of any incompatability with these two drugs? i know i should just go to the docs but i work full time and if i wait to see a doc, it could be another week or 2. im ready to quit right now! thanks everyone :-)

I have having problems with bloating and diarrhea the last year or so and have seen my gp, who referred me to the hospital, which have now diagnosed me with ibs.I have had other tests for allergies and intolerances which have came back negative so basically its now down to me to find out what triggers it, so to save time had a food sensitivity test done at my local health shop which involved me putting my hand face down on a table and the lady who performed the test put a small pen like thing to my finger, which was attached to a machine which she inserted different little test tubes with the name of certain foods on it. The machine made a noise when she touched my finger with the pen thingy and by the noise it made she could tell which foods are a problem for me. I thought the results were farely accurate but my doctor assures me its a load of rubbish, not worth the paper its written on which i found quite disappointing. I paid £39.
Has anyone else had these tests?

house, 5 hours away was when she discovered the mistake. The generic does not work as well, and upon calling the pharmacy, she was informed she was to bring back the entire # of pills distributed. In the meantime, better than suffering, she had taken 1. Is this ethical? She could have touched them, ect.........it makes me question the fact if they redistribute them, ...... it just seems wrong and gross. I believe they should be flushed, and given the correct medication. Later she finds out, they have to order "Brand Name", and they will not be available til next Wed. Seeing she is out of town without computer access, she requested I ask Yahoo Answers . Seeing I have a child who takes medication regurarly for a health condition,......I'm hoping a pharmacist, or well informed person can help with this disturbing issues.
It seems no different than exchangng "french fries at Burger King, for the onion rings you ordered".
