Can a doctor tell if someone has an infection just by feeling the face? Like can someones cheeks feel tender to the doctor, or can a forehead feel swollen to a doctor, or can you feel lumps in the temples or anything that can be seen with the naked eye or felt by hand?

Someone I know has Fibromyalgia and is on Kadian (morphine). She tried to make a doctor appointment for two weeks, and could not get in until 3 days before her prescription ran out.
She gets her prescriptions through the mail and they take at least a week to get here.
She asked the doctor to fill a prescription at the pharmacy for a week's supply morphine sulfate (which is much cheaper than Kadian) , just until her Kadian arrived in the mail.
The doctor refused to fill the prescription, even though she was going to run out of medication.
As you know, Morphine is a narcotic, and people who abruptly stop taking it have severe withdrawal symptoms.
My question is, is there anything she can do to get the doctor to fill a prescription until her Kadian arrives?
What are her legal rights as a chronic pain patient and morphine user?

I know this is a crazy question.. but i am having a problem at work... i am 27 years old... i go into work at 7 am (i pee in the morning of course).. I dont have much to drink maybe a sip of something here and there. I have to pee by 8 am , 9:30 am, 11 am and 1:15 pm, then in the afternoon is fine. Now my problem is that my breaks are at 9:30, 1:15, and 2:30. I am afraid that i am going to get into trouble with having too many bathroom breaks. and they wont move my breaks ( yeah my work sucks, they said they cant be moved cause of call volume). now does anyone have any clue or ideas on what i can do to hold my pee longer? or anything that i can take? I drink water at night but i figure that liquid would be coming out of my system by morning. and in the after noon i am fine,,, it is so strange....thanks for the help.

I'm not sick or anything but I've been so thirsty all the time for like a week. I have to gulp a bottle of water as fast as I can so I can quench my thirst. and then a little while later I'm still wicked thirsty again. I'm just wondering why even though it could be a lot of things right

I guess you'd take into consideration the average life span of a male or female, but the average age incorporates all the ages at which people died.

Can anyone give me some advice which type of regulations are breached by my employer, when he allows the cleaning personnel to use bleach to clean cups and the inside of the microwave? I am aware that bleach is classified as a corrosive substance in the COSHH regulations, however I am not working with the substance, it is only used in my work place. I have adressed this issue to the office manager twice, he in turn has spoken to the cleaners, as have I; to no avail.
So I guess so me kind of legal procedure would be appropriate at this stage, like an inspection or something like that. Any useful advice on what the next step should be? ( I should add that my college is suffering from digestive problems and she suspects the b leach in the microwave might be the cause. thanks a lot

I have always suffered with my ears and throat from a very young age and when I was 16 I had an operation to repair a perforated eardrum, and I was 22 when I had my tonsils removed after having at least 5 bouts of tonsilitis each year.
Since having them removed 3 years ago I have only had 3 throat infections but have started to suffer again with my ears.
I know that one of the side affects of have your tonsils removed is referal pain but for the last 3 days I have had really bad ear ache just like I used to get when I was younger with a perforated ear drum.
The problem Im having is that my throat is absolutely fine,no pain what so ever, and my ears are not weeping or blocked up in anyway so I dont think its an ear infection. My hearing has gone very echoey if that makes any sense???
I rang my doctors after 2 nights of no sleep at all but cant get an appointment for another week and the nurse practitioner said that this is not classed as an emergancy case.
Any ideas??

I just don't get it. People say it is a disease, and then the people that have it blame it on a psychological addictiveness. I bite my nails because of a psychological addictiveness, does that mean I have a disease? Are these people just looking for sympathy for doing what they do?

Just wondering if it will take effect at work, never really thought when I drank it earlier

Just a thought what do you think is the bigger cause of death.
Heavy smoking or heavy drinking? Choose one as I know both are bad for you.
