I have always suffered with my ears and throat from a very young age and when I was 16 I had an operation to repair a perforated eardrum, and I was 22 when I had my tonsils removed after having at least 5 bouts of tonsilitis each year.
Since having them removed 3 years ago I have only had 3 throat infections but have started to suffer again with my ears.
I know that one of the side affects of have your tonsils removed is referal pain but for the last 3 days I have had really bad ear ache just like I used to get when I was younger with a perforated ear drum.
The problem Im having is that my throat is absolutely fine,no pain what so ever, and my ears are not weeping or blocked up in anyway so I dont think its an ear infection. My hearing has gone very echoey if that makes any sense???
I rang my doctors after 2 nights of no sleep at all but cant get an appointment for another week and the nurse practitioner said that this is not classed as an emergancy case.
Any ideas??

It could be wax build up putting pressure on the ear drum. You may want to talk to the pharmacist until you get to the doctors. They do sell over the counter stuff to flush out the wax.

I have ear problems alos--since i was 6 months old--but way back then, they didnt do tubes in the ears. I havent had to many ear problems lately..but i take an prescription allergy medicine, so i dont get sick as much in the cold season and i dont have all the drainage that blocks my ears up and stuff.

My son had ear infection after ear infection without a runny nose or any other signs. He had the surgery done and the tubes put in and while they were in there doing that, they found that polyps (sp) had grown inside his ear canals due to all the infections. He seems better now--we have gone 1 yr without any ear problems.

Also, when i get the least hint of anything with my ears, i go to the health food store and get some hollow candles and use them on my ears...it cleans them all out and even helps to pull fluid out of the ear.

Talk to another doctor. That so-called nurse has no business having a certificate.

In fact, you might want to talk with an ENT specialist.

Now- there is another possibility, though it's a long shot. Sometimes dental problems can manifest as ear aches too.

Good luck and feel a lot better!

I had Otitis Media (inner ear infection about a month ago and my hearing was echoey too. It could be an ear infection. If your ears are hurting you really bad and its irritating then maybe going to the E.R. is a good idea.

the only thing i know is that the bacteria cause the pain and it is from your mouth because your mouth and your ears are connected with ear other.
you can't do a lot of things about it because it is deep in the ear and it may effect your hearing if you done something wrong. but there is still one thing you can do and it maybe will help only a little bit. you can stay away form loud and sharp noice.

get to a doctor now!!!!
you probaly have an inner ear infection and its bad
inner ear infections can go on for a long time without any real simptoms.
the echoeyness in your ears can be from an eardrum rupture caused by the infection.
don't waste time it can cause sever and ireverseable hearing damage.

Much ear pain can come from chewing on hard candies or hard food.

There is a trick that I heard of and tried it before and it worked for me.
You have someone blow smoke in your ear from a cigarette. It may sound awful but it did the job quite fast.

Wow...why does it take so long to get in to see your doctor? Sounds like you need a new doctor. I can get same-day appointment or next day at the latest, regardless of the cause.

EDIT: So is your appointment in 2 days or is it next week? You gave conflicting info.

Regardless, I doubt you'll get much credible medical advice here except to "go see a doctor." :)
