Topomax. I was on it for Bipolar for a while and it's also used as a migraine pill. It's pretty expensive though.. That's why I'm not on it anymore.

First, John John, slow down and breathe. That will release a lot of tension right there.

Learn Yoga or some other form of meditation.

I've found that a nice cup of chamomile tea with honey is calming. And with a bit of lemon and ginger, helps with headaches too.

Or try a tea with Valerian root in it: You should be able to find this at a grocery store.

And talk with your doctor again, if the medicine isn't working. If she can't give you any better excuse than 'they're addictive' for not letting you have something that actually works, find another doctor.

You don't say what else is going on in your life, and it's not really my business. But if you're trying to do too much stuff at once, choose an activity to let go of. You need some breathing space.

Good luck!

chlordiazepoxide--Librium
clomipramine--Anafranil
clorazepate--Tranxene-SD
doxepin--Sinequan
paroxetine--Paxil
prochlorperazine--Compazine
trifluoperazine--Suprazine

These all help with anxiety. The generic name is listed first & a brand name is second & is capitalized. Someone suggested Topamax. It is excellent for preventing migraine headaches but one of the side effects is anxiety so that probably wouldn't be a good med for you. The 3 your dr won't give you usually work the best. They do have a high potential for addiction. That is something you & your dr have to work out. She is the one that knows what is best for you and your situation. The list I have given you will at least give you a starting pt for a discussion with her. Good luck

Headache is among the most common medical complaints. Some of the reasons which cause headache are hypertension, over work, mental stress, indigestion, sleeplessness, fever, anemia, deficiency of oxygen in the blood, etc. Check out http://useinfo-headache.blogspot.com/ for more info
