I have having problems with bloating and diarrhea the last year or so and have seen my gp, who referred me to the hospital,which have now diagnosed me with ibs.I have had other tests for allergies and intolerances which have came back negative so basically its now down to me to find out what triggers it, so to save time had a food sensitivity test done at my local health shop which involved me putting my hand face down on a table and the lady who performed the test put a small pen like thing to my finger, which was attached to a machine which she inserted different little test tubes with the name of certain foods on it. The machine made a noise when she touched my finger with the pen thingy and by the noise it made she could tell which foods are a problem for me. I thought the results were farely accurate but my doctor assures me its a load of rubbish, not worth the paper its written on which i found quite disappointing. I paid £39.
Has anyone else had these tests?

never had the tests but because docs go to school for years you can be sure they think everything is rubbish except ffor what they learned in math and scientifific data :but that isnt always true so you should weigh everything out... and do a process of elimination... i think, personally alot of doctors are rubbish but then again there are quacks out there too... be careful...do your math

Sounds rather unscientific to me. I think only scratch tests would reliable.

I would recommend you try a detox type of diet then start re-adding foods to you diet. Keeping a diary of what you eat and how you react when you add foods back into your system.

Ask your doctor about an exercise routine. Regular exercise, such as walking three times a week, may reduce neuropathy pain, improve your muscle strength and help control blood sugar levels. Gentle routines such as yoga and tai chi might also help.

You don't need a test to tell you that you're reacting to food. If you eat a certain food and find your self running to the loo... you are sensitive to it so don't eat it.
